Arrow 1 Punjabi Wolves at the Asian Football Awards.

Punjabi Wolves attended the inaugural Asian Football Awards held at the ‘home’ of football, Wembley Stadium, on 24th January 2012. We were shortlisted under the Football Foundation of the Year award along with Zesh Rehman Foundation, Muslim Women's Sports Foundation, Osmani Trust and London Tigers.
Joining Punjabi Wolves was Jazz Sodhi, Head Academy Physio at Wolves, who was shortlisted for ‘Football behind the scenes award - 'Medical'. Danny Batth was under the category of ‘Young Player of the Year’ but, due to him being on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and due to play that evening, was unable to attend.
As the awards ceremony started and winners were being announced our ever eagle eyed Jas Sidhu spotted a pattern against the winners and how they were named in the programme, that being each second named person/group were winning. So we were quite hopeful as in the programme we too were named second in our category!! Soon enough it was the turn of our category and as the nominees were read out we made an almighty ‘Punjabi’ roar as our name was read out, then the envelope was opened to reveal Osmani Trust as the winners, shock...horror....bemusement hit us!
Then came a short break where the main meal was served and this gave us a chance to mingle with some of the stars that were present, please have a look at the photo gallery. We also went outside onto the terrace of Wembley with a beautiful unobstructed view of the magnificent stadium. Several photographs and beers later the second part of the ceremony were to commence but the host Dharmesh Sheth, Sky Sports presenter, had to wait until Punjabi Wolves finished taking some photographs!!
Unfortunately Jazz Sodhi did not win either but that didn’t dampen our mood as the beers flowed and as for the small green bottles of water...well...they had to be drunk with extreme caution!
The highlight of our evening came when Danny Batth won the Young Player of the Year award and our Chairman Andy Sahota and Jazz Sodhi went on stage to collect the award. We thought maybe this will be the time that our Chairman addresses the audience and says a few words but alas this was not to be and Jazz made a very brief speech and they both returned to our table to a rapturous applause!
